DESCRIPTION OF SUBMISSION CATEGORIES :

PROFESSIONAL / PRO
iF3 has invited specific production companies to submit their films to the professional category. Additional production companies are welcome to submit their films to compete in this segment, however they will be judged on the same level as professionally made films. While we do not have specific requirements regarding what qualifies as a professional production company, the following guidelines may help classify a professional crew:

-Sponsored Athletes
-Significant external funding
-Professional cinematographers
-Professional editing
-The revenue and sponsorship income are sufficient to financially support the parties involved
-The production company is run as a business

If you believe that you can compete on a professional level then you are free to submit your entry, however, if you do not feel that you can compete on a professional level then there is also an amateur category to enter. The iF3 reserves the rights to change any entries of category once it has reviewed its submission.

AMATEUR / AM
Any production crew is welcome to submit their films to this category. While there are no absolute requirements, the following guidelines will suggest that you belong in the amateur category:

-An average of mid to low level athlete sponsorships, if any.
-Minimal external funding, if any.
-Minimal distribution, if any.
-Revenue and sponsorship income is insufficient to financially support the parties involved.
-The film cannot exceed 40 minutes.

The iF3 reserves the rights to change any entries of category once it has reviewed its submission.

***The amateur and professional categories are mutually exclusive meaning that you may only submit your entry to one of the two. If you do not follow the rules and submit the same entry to both professional and amateur categories then iF3 reserves the right to remove your submission from consideration without a refund of entry fees. That being said, a single production company may submit films to the Web & New Media category as well as an entry to the professional OR amateur category.***

WEBISODE / WEB
This category is devoted to the continuing trend towards online media. Podcasts, web-series’, webisodes, and other forms of online releases are included in this category. To be considered in this category, all content must be distributed for free online. A webisode must be at least three minutes in length and up to 25 minutes max. To be considered a web series, at least three episodes per season must be produced. This category is open to both professional and amateur submissions. The iF3 reserves the rights to change any entries of category once it has reviewed its submission.

GENERAL RULES
Carefully read the following section which contains important submission procedures and information. Failure to follow the guidelines below may result in your submission being excluded from consideration at iF3.

The following guidelines, categories, and deadlines are valid for iF3 International 2013 in Montreal, iF3 Europe 2013 in Annecy and iF3 Innsbruck in Austria. Other iF3 Festivals are pending at this time.
The Montreal and Annecy festivals will take place from September 11th-15th and 27th-29th, respectively. The awards ceremonies will take place on the 14th and 28th of September, respectively.
One (1) selection committee and one (1) judging panel will review all movies for all festivals and will then award the iF3 Palms in Montreal and Annecy.
There is only one submission process for all iF3 events. (Therefore, you only need to submit your screener for the selection process and your final film one time.)
Producer must confirm festival attendance / participation within 72 hours of receiving an invitation to show your film at the festival. If they do not confirm within this timeframe, iF3 reserves the right to revoke the invitation and extend it to another producer.
The film submission does not need to be a completed film however, iF3 requires producers to submit at least 20 minutes of post production footage to be considered.

The WITHOUTABOX submission platform is only being used for the submission copy, which will determine who is accepted into the iF3 line-up. Final exhibition copies will be submitted via a separate FTP platform. If selected, the producer will be contacted and given instructions on how to submit their finalized exhibition copy. Submitting to a festival on Withoutabox makes a film eligible for an IMDb Title Page but the filmmaker would still need to create the page in order for it to be listed. The submitter receives an invite to register an IMDb account to link to their Withoutabox account. If you have any questions regarding your IMDb Title Page, please contact Filmmaker Support here: http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/wabsupport.
